Welcome to SMS (Sheldon Middle School)!

If your student is ill or going to be missing school for any reason, please contact the middle school office by 9:00 A.M. via email @ dvanriesen@sheldon.k12.ia.us or mvanbeek@sheldon.k12.ia.us, or by phoning 324-4346 or sending a note with your student. We then will notify the student's teacher(s).

May 16th - 6th Grade Camp Foster Trip

May 19th - 5th Grade DARE Day at Arnold's Park

May 22nd - 5/6 Track and Field Day

May 28th - Memorial Day holiday

May 29 - June 21 - Summer School

8th Grade Baseball - Will start Tuesday May 15th. Meet at the High School baseball field right after school.

7th Grade Baseball - Will start Thursday May 17th. Meet at the High School baseball field right after school. It will run from 3:30-5. On Monday May 21, they will meet with Mr. Groff in the gym after school. You will get your uniform and schedules for practice and games.

Village Northwest has new events for their 4th of July Celebration. Bill Riley Talent Search Contest and Village Fear Factor. If you are interested in either of these two events, there is information in the office.

Because of graduation, finals and basketball camp, Mr. Struve would like the guys know that there will not be basketball open gym on May 17th, 22nd, 24th, 29th or 31st. Open gym will start again June 5th at the middle school.

Weather Related Announcements

Weather related announcements will be given over the radio station KIWA, 1550 AM and 105.3 FM, Sheldon, as well as regional radio stations. They are also posted on the KIWA website, kiwaradio.com. Weather related announcements can also be found by signing up for https://schoolalerts.iowa.gov . These announcements will be given as early as possible.

You can check your student's lunch account, attendance and grades online by logging onto the district website:

Student Lunch fees - The cost for student lunches has increased from $2.00 to $2.05.

PaySchools - The Sheldon Community School District is unveiling a new, online payment processing system, PaySchools.This program allows you to make deposits to your children's lunch account online via e-check or credit card at your convience all from our school's Web site, at www.sheldon.k12.ia.us Each child will be bringing home an information paper on how it works and the benefits for you.
